As part of professor’s Adrianne Fang’s research into lineage and the aging dancer, this work was inspired by three prolific works of choreographer Doug Varone - Strict Love, Raging Fire, & Bench Quartet. Being in dialogue with these works allowed for a questioning and reimagining of influences, lineages and inspirations.

When I Am Laid in Earth

Inspired by the libretto of Purcell’s Dido’s Lament, this work investigates the notions of personal struggle, the ghosts we carry from our past selves, and their influence on our present. Through grief, memory, reawakening, and renewal, a luminary is reborn out of the ashes- exuberant and resilient.
