Fallacies
(in process)

Fallacies blurs the lines between original source and personal interpretation, constructing dance from a dancer’s perspective. Distorting referential choreography to reveal new patterns and physical possibilities, Fallacies makes invisible embodied histories - visible.

“Who are we when we are in front of people? Who are we when we’re pretending to be someone else? Do we transmute, or reveal ourselves, showing the gap between who we are and who we are trying to be?”

How unnerving, to watch someone cup their face, or do the wave with their arms, but not do it for you. Or to watch someone imitate an untrained dancer (Napoleon Dynamite) with all the verve of conservatory training. What is a movement without its context? In this space between non-performance and performance, the piece wavers between entertaining and disconcerting.
